Creating classical features out of the finest marbles and stones

Bespoke fireplaces, fountains and garden features carved in the finest marbles and stones.

Working with private homeowners, interior designers, architects, and garden designers, we create unique bespoke features in marble and stone for both the house and garden. Fireplaces, fountains, temples, baths, swimming pools, entrance gates, portico's, garden seats, urns, balustrade and statuary normally start with After the Antique taking a design brief and producing  architectural drawings but we can also work with drawings supplied. Once drawings are signed off the works typically take 8 - 16 weeks to have the feature made. If you need After the Antique to install the feature we can usually take care of this too. Illustrated below are a few examples of our work.

Marble Bath

Our customer wanted a beautiful marble bath made from which he could enjoy the fabulous view overlooking the plains in Africa. It was therefor essential that we designed and made a bath which was not only beautifully made but also extremely comfortable. Roll top edges and central outlet plug were incorporated in the design to achieve this.

The Buffalo Stone Fireplace

This unique billiard room required an outstanding stone fireplace which needed to encapsulate the atmosphere of the location with its design. The inclusion of a wall height stone overmantle and a Buffalo's stone carved head on the central panel with the herd in deep relief on the freeze created the fireplace needed for this room.

Contemporary Marble Fireplace

Our customer wanted a classical fireplace to sit comfortably with the contemporary interiors he was planning. By selecting a pure white marble instead of stone which would usually be selected for this classical Georgian bolection design created a very simple but effective way to achieve this.

Chelsea Flower Show Stone Temple

In 2004 Designer Clare Agnew asked us to work with her on Savill’s show Garden at Chelsea Flower 2005. We took Clare’s outline drawings , turned them into full architectural drawings and built this garden temple along with the matching stone urns and pedstals

Magestic Marble Urns

Drawing and finished fireplace, hand carved in sandstone.

Walk-in Stone Fireplace

We were given a very specific brief of what was needed. After several sketches we firmed up the design and supplied and installed this solid stone fireplace.

Dolphin Marble Fountain

Our customer designed this fountain himself and asked us to turn it into architectural drawings then make and install it.

Limestone Wall Fountain

We were asked to design and supply a pair or fountains to dress a tall wall. By making it double tier and creating an keystone arch to frame the fountain we created the height required.

Woburn Abbey Stone Fireplace

Georgian Sienna Marble Fireplace

A classic Georgian fireplace was needed in one of the main rooms of a house being restored to its former glory. We used Italian Sienna for the columns and frieze to help achieve this but personalised the fireplaces with the intitials of the Hall on the central panel.

Marble Bench

Part of a large garden was being brought back into use and we were asked to design and make a marble bench from which it could be enjoyed.
