Victorian Classic Carved In Travertine
Our customer wanted a classical fireplace but with a twist to go with their new bedroom interiors. We took our classical Victorian fireplace and made it in travertine instead of the usual white marble to great effect. Note how the colour of the bedspread picks up on the blue hue of the travertine.
Bespoke Georgian Fireplace
Our standard classical Georgian fireplace was the basis of this design, but we were asked to create a different frieze on the mantle to go with the Urns above the jambs. We created a mini breakfront in the mantle to house a Robert Adams style Urn and swags frieze tablet.
Queen Victoria In Black Marble
Here we were merely asked to create our Queen Victorian fireplace (One of our stock items) in black marble to complement the beige colour of the sitting room.
Aberdeen House Project
The white marble we used for this fireplace is fine-grained enough to take very detailed carving and, under licence from Historic Royal Palaces this enabled us to replicate and slightly customise the exquisite work of the original in Hampton Court Palace for this project. We used a deep green marble for the hearth and slips to really set off the surround.
Burgandian Limestone Wall Fireplace
This large room in a significant country house restoration needed an imposing fireplace designed for it otherwise it was likely to get lost in the room. We created this fireplace with strong scroll bracket jambs, an impressive one-piece mantle, a large overmantle and carved it all from a warm beige Burgundian limestone. To personalise the piece we carved the houses initials and date on the mantle front.
Gryphons Fireplace
The sandstone selected for this fireplace needed to be unusually fine-textured to enable us to create the precise carving details in the frieze and jambs. Here the central winged gryphons are mirrored by the gryphons flanking the corners of the bolection cushion frieze.
Bespoke Georgian Fireplace
The interior colours and traditional interior design of this project required us to design and supply a classical Georgian fireplace with complimentary marble colours. We made this ionic columned fireplace in statuary white and Giallo yellow marble and with a deep enough mantle to comfortably accommodate the mirror overmantle.
Our customer wanted an impressive classical fireplace to complement a contemporary eclectic dining room. Our challenge was to create an impressive fireplace without much space so the detail of the carving was of paramount importance.
Medieval Stone Walk In Fireplace
Unbelievably this room started with a flat wall between the windows. We were tasked to design and make a medi-evil style walk-in fireplace with cosy seats so our client could sit inside it and enjoy a glass of champagne with his family by the fire. It was also requested that we include the family crest within the design. We used travertine as it has a very warm hue and feels ancient the moment it is installed.
A Tudor arch, internal portcullis windows, Lion's head, bunches of grapes, interior benches which can also store logs under them, and initialed family shields all feature in this design.
Safari Lodge In Kenya
In the heart of Africa, this was an inspiring project to be part of. A stunning and luxurious new safari lodge was being built in the hills in Kenya, and the project required several significant fireplaces in the main rooms. A vital element of the design brief was that the fireplaces should reflect the wildlife that can be found around the house. Each fireplace is unique to its room, and different scenes of elephants, buffalos, lions and impala can be seen in the different fireplaces.
